Hell Bunny Karen Dress

Aloha my cherry pies, I finally got a tripod whoop! So I thought it was about time that I did some outfit reviews and show you how I style my look. It was mine and my boyfriends anniversary this weekend so it was a good chance to get dolled up and a perfect time to show you lovely people what I wore.

So for our date I chose to wear the beautiful Karen dress by Hell Bunny clothing. I absolutely adore Hell Bunny from way back in my "mosher" days when I used to wear their unicorn dresses to now when I wear their gorgeous swing dresses. The fabric of Hell Bunny clothing is really well made so you can wear them again and again unlike some dresses. They make some amazing day wear with gorgeous prints that are so versatile! If you haven't got yourself a Hell Bunny dress then I suggest you do so. The Karen dress drew my eye firstly because of the colour as mint is truly my favourite colour so I thought this dress was stunning. The length of it is prefect for me as I prefer my dresses to fall just below the knee. I loved the buttoned down front and the kind of shirtwaister style of it too, I felt like a cute little 50s housewife in this dress, and bonus its covered in polka dots and who doesn't love them right?

To style it up I added a cute white belt as I love a nipped in waist, I thought this would go perfectly since it matched the colour of the polka dots. I then added in my hair this beautiful hair flower from Lady Lucks Boutique, I have to say that this is the most gorgeous hair flower I have, the colour is beautiful and I love the size of it. For jewellery I wore these great yellow beads that I got in a box from Style By Portobello which is a monthly subscription box and you get surprise vintage items each month!

And there you have it Guys and Dolls, hope you enjoyed reading.

Cocos Vintage Wetset

Aloha my cherry pies, so I get quite a few compliments on my hair and people often ask how I style it so I thought I'd put together a little photo tutorial on all the steps I go through. Please do bare in mind though this is how I style my hair and not how everyone does it and that I'm not a professional.

The first thing you're going to need is the essentials. You will need foam rollers, a hair net, a big headscarf, a paddle brush, a teasing comb and stetting lotion. I used Lottabody setting lotion although I store it in a squirty bottle as shown in the picture.

I have added picture here so that everyone can see the length of my hair when it is just freshly washed and dried. I have a Middy which is an authentic vintage cut and does help create the desired shape when you have styled it.

For a Wetset the first thing you need to do is wet your hair. For my first set of the week I will always wash mine and then for other sets I generally use another squirty bottle full on water and spritz my hair before adding the rollers. (You will probably find that freshly washed hair is the hardest to mould as it quite slippery). You will need to have wet hair as the curl will not hold very well if not and will drop during the day, the curl needs to dry into the desired shape. But do remember you want your hair to be only slightly damp as if it is any wetter it will simply not dry and when you wake up you wont have curls you'll just have a mess (trust me I've done this plenty of times haha), There's a fine line and once you've got the hang of it you'll learn how dry your hair needs to be for it to work. I personally don't recommend blow drying your hair to the desired dampness as I just feel that it leaves the hair too dry and plus I'm not a big fan of damaging my hair with heat.

So once your hair is mostly dry its time to put in your setting lotion. I generally put it in my hands first then run them through my hair till I feel it has got enough in, you don't want to put too much in or it can feel kinda crispy. The next step is the putting the rollers in. I use foam rollers as I find them much easier to sleep in and they give a good curl. As you can see from the picture I did run out of rollers for the back so had to use pillow rollers which I don't really like as I don't feel they curl as well but needs must. I must say here that I am not the neatest at putting in rollers haha. Also always remember its important to tuck in the ends of the hair as if not they will not curl right and it wont look neat when you take out the rollers. (I have also done this a few times too haha)

Once your rollers are in what I recommend to do is put on a hair net, it doesn't look attractive but it does keep the rollers from coming loose when you're sleeping. I then add a big head scarf for good measure. Now its time to sleep!

So in the morning you need to gently take out the rollers, don't pull them out as this can cause unneeded frizz. Once they are out they should be quite tight curls.

What you need to do now is to separate the curls by running your hands through them. Some people panic now as this makes the hair become gigantic but don't worry it'll be fine when you start to brush.

Then you need to take your paddle brush, and using the palm of your hand put the hair in your palm and brush down. If you don't use your palm the hair wont smooth down and will just stay frizzy. Now its up to you on how curled you want it, some people brush for about 15 mins to get the desired curl but its up to yourself.

Next its time to sort out fringe/bangs. I take them out of the rollers then give them a good brush with the paddle brush. Then I part it into three sections, and each section I back comb and hair spray. The end result should look like my picture and be able to stand in the air on its own, this can worry some people but the more the back comb the better as its makes it more mouldable. What I do now is place my hand on forehead and use the teasing comb to smooth the fringe section over the back of my hand, you just need to smooth the top layer and it should create a nice swooping fringe effect, you can then play about with the ends of the fringe, I try to get them to swoop back to create an S shape fringe, but it depends on what your hair wants to do on the day, sometimes mine wants to curl on the ends so I let it.

Next you just need to hair spray all your hair and sometimes, like when I styled this, I pin back the side opposite to my fringe as it was a bit too curled for my liking. You could then add a little touch such as a hair flower and you're good to go.

And there you have it Guys and Dolls, I hope you enjoyed reading and found it useful.

Interview with Miss Osiria Rose

Aloha my cherry pies, so the other day I decided I wanted to add an interview segment to my blogs, I thought not only will I get to talk to some truly inspiring people but I get to share it with all you lovely people, win win in my opinion! So I was lucky enough to snag an interview with the beautiful Pin Up Miss Osiria Rose who hails from sunny Australia, I've been following this gorgeous lady on Instagram for some time now and I thought it was about time I caught up with her.

1. How did you originally become interested in the Pin Up and Vintage scene?

I actually discovered retro styling around the time Christina Aguilera went through her retro phase. From memory this was also around the time Dita Von Teese came into the limelight. Both of these women inspired a love of retro in me that I nurtured in secret for years by following real retro girls online. It took me 7 years to take the plunge and get into retro myself.

2.What do you love the most about being a Pin Up?

Everyday is different. While the style is blanketed now days as ‘Pin Up’, I can look completely different 7 days a week by styling my outfit and my hair different. I love the versatility, the colours, the class. We live in a time when the art of looking polished and finished has been lost and I really like that my outfits look finished every day. Its my way of expressing myself and taking price in my appearance.

3. Your Pin Up name is Miss Osiria Rose which is a gorgeous name, what made you decide on that name?

My Pinup Name actually comes from an actual rose. Initially when I started modelling I had bright red hair, red lips and red nails. But I am quite pale. An Osiria Rose is a white rose with red tips!

4.What is your most treasured Vintage or Vintage style item?

Probably the evening wear dress I bought for the Miss Picture Perfect Pagent! Its one of the few true vintage pieces I own and its amazing! Its one of the items I cannot WAIT to fit into again!

5. You have some absolutely stunning outfits, which do you think is your favourite and why?

Oh wow, I have way too many! I tend to wear a lot of skirts and tops, purely because I find I can get a better fit than a dress. I wear a lot of jenny skirts, I own around 11 of them so I guess you could call them a favorite!

6.What do you think has been your biggest achievement so far?

Entering my first pinup pageant and placing. Most definitely! I have some pretty big anxiety issues and I was honestly petrified of getting up on a stage and being a part of a pagent. But I wanted to really wanted to enter and I pushed myself really hard. I worked my butt off to look my best, I invested in some amazing true vintage outfits and I managed to place 1st Runner up! The feedback I got was also SUPER positive that the only reason I didn’t win was because I didn’t speak long enough, which was amazing! I was SO proud of myself!

7. Who would you say inspires you the most?

I can’t say I really have anyone in particular who inspires me. I follow SO many amazing women online that I draw my inspiration from daily and I truly am thankful for the internet and its ability to be able to connect me with others like that!

8.From your Instagram I can see you have been pretty busy with Daisy Jean Floral, do you have any plans for 2016 to expand your business?

I’m constantly working to expand Daisy Jean! I’m currently working on more fascinator pieces, bringing bags on board as well as some other exciting additions. Daisy Jean is forever growing and I love working on it!

9. You hail for the beautiful sunny Australia, what is the Vintage and Pin-up scene like over there?

I do indeed! I’m based in Sydney where we have a relatively big scene! From what I can tell most of the major cities have their own scene. For the most part everyone is supportive of one another and we get along.
